How to Perform Tarpan — Water Libation Ritual for Ancestors at Gaya & at Home

Tarpan (तर्पण) — from the Sanskrit root 'tṛp' meaning 'to satisfy' — is the act of offering water to satisfy the thirst of departed ancestors in the ancestral realm. It is the simplest yet most essential of all ancestral rites.
